Men’s Soccer

Following a tough end to the regular season, the men’s team bounced back with an emphatic 4-0 win over Nichols in the first round of the playoffs. Caleb Cole ‘17 was named CCC Offensive Player of the Year after posting 9 goals and a whopping 16 assists. Josh Cochran ‘18, Ben Gradert ‘18 and Josh Spoonhour ‘17 were also named to the CCC First Team.

Women’s Soccer

True to their reputation, #8 seed Gordon beat the odds and upset #1 Roger Williams, 2-1, in the first round of tournament play. Kay Silveira ‘18 and Jill Kefalas ‘19 provided late goals to push Gordon through. A pair of freshmen, Devin Lacroix ‘20 and Kali Denty ‘20, were named to the All-CCC Second Team, an impressive honor for first-year players.

Field Hockey

The Scots closed their season with a 1-0 win over Roger Williams. Despite the victory, however, a 5-7 CCC record left the team just outside of the playoff picture. Emily Allcroft ‘18, scorer of the winning goal, finished with a team-leading 10 goals. Goalkeeper Shannon Hicks ‘17 collected her third shutout of the season and finished an impressive second in the CCC in both Goals-against Average and Save Percentage.

Volleyball

Following a hard-fought five-set loss to Western New England in the season finale, Gordon has a chance for redemption, as the two teams match up in the first round of the CCC playoffs. Libero Maggie Risma ‘17 reached a personal milestone last week, recording her 2,000th career dig. Risma received CCC Libero of the Year honors, while Carleigh Petersen ‘17 and Renee Cooprider ‘19 were named to the second and third team all-CCC respectively.

Women’s Tennis

An impressive season came to an end with a loss to #1 Nichols in the semifinals. Abbie Denney ‘19 was named to the singles first team All-CCC, and doubles partner Justine Hanson ‘19 made the second team. Maddie Berry ‘18 and Kaelyn Hall ‘19 were also recognized. When asked about the source of the team’s success, Denney said, “giving our best at practice every day, and learning something new from every team we played throughout the season. We improved as the season went on.”

Cross Country

Both the Men’s and Women’s teams came home 6th of 9 at the CCC Championships. Star runner Damon Kilgore ‘18 took home his second consecutive CCC Runner of the Year award with yet another victory. Angie Epplett ‘20 paced the Gordon Women, finishing 14th. The teams are preparing for the upcoming New England DIII Championships on Nov. 12.

Swimming

Gordon’s women’s team defeated Elms College, 163-83 on Oct. 29, behind two individual victories for Amber Collard ‘20 and an emphatic victory for Megan David ‘19. The men fell to Elms, 105-134. Jack Cicchelli ‘18 won both butterfly events and Gordon’s 200-yard medley relay team also won. The team hits the pool on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Regis College.
