No, Gordon did not construct a new playground behind Emory Hall for its college attendees. North Shore Christian Schools (NSCS) is relocating its Beverly campus to Gordon College, with the new campus set to officially open on October 23, 2024. This move not only addresses the need for a new campus for NSCS but also deepens the meaningful collaboration between NSCS and Gordon College.
Relocation became necessary when the church-owned building—its Beverly campus– was unable to renew its lease, and the building would need to be sold. Pam Heintz, the Head of the School, and the school board began looking for a new location. During this process, Gordon College offered the opportunity to rent space on its Wenham campus, which NSCS gladly took. The new NSCS campus will be opened in Emory Hall.
“This move is a perfect fit,” said Liz Scottron, the Dean of Academics at NSCS. “Our partnership with Gordon has been strong for many years and we are pleased that this move will provide us with more opportunities to work together.”
NSCS and Gordon College have a long history of collaboration in education. Gordon Education majors often complete their internships and practical assessments at NSCS, gaining practical teaching experience. With the establishment of the new Gordon campus, these opportunities will be more accessible than ever before.
Ms. Scottron expressed her excitement: “This is very exciting for our students to interact with Gordon College education students who have received training. In turn, Gordon’s students will have easier access to teaching practices, make observations, and interact with our students. This is a truly mutually beneficial partnership that will grow stronger.”
NSCS parents and students are also excited about the move. “Parents and students look forward to the beautiful green spaces and resources available at Gordon College,” Ms. Scottron said. “People are looking forward to what God will do with this new opportunity.”
Faculty, staff, and students at Gordon College are equally eager to welcome NSCS to their campus. The relocation provides an exciting opportunity for both communities to learn from each other and create new experiences. This transformation not only addresses NSCS’s need for a new campus but also reinforces its mission to provide a high-quality education based on Christian values. Both NSCS and Gordon are excited to see how this deeper collaboration will mutually benefit students and faculty.
