Adidas Sambas. Adidas Gazelles. Adidas Gordon? Student athletes sport a new logo as they step on campus this fall. Stepping onto the scene at the end of last semester, new Athletic Director Jason Linders, sat down to give us all the behind the scenes on this exciting new brand deal.

After deliberate evaluation of the past partnership with Under Armour and conversations with President Hammond and campus administration, collectively Gordon leadership concluded that “it was a good time with a new Athletic Director starting and a good opportunity to really rethink our apparel brand,” as Jason Linders said.

Linders aided in the smooth transition as he had ties with several vendors who were more than willing to get Gordon College set up with Adidas for the new year. On discussing why Adidas over other popular athletic brands, like New Balance, Linders was highly informative on the grandeur of this brand.

“Adidas is a worldwide brand, they have done a lot with their branding with professional players…we are trying to contribute to a better student athlete experience, and they seemed like a good partner to do that with.” Along with the excitement of this new deal, difficulties in filtering out old apparel trails are not too far behind.

“The Adidas rep has been really good about knowing that it’s going to take at least one to two years to get all the branding off our facilities…we have at least two or three teams using Under Armour uniforms because we just ordered them last year.” With a new logo etched on each uniform, comes a new-found confidence for athletes…both on and off the field.
