On Saturday, February 22nd, Gordon College held their annual film festival competition, Gordon Globes, by Gordon’s Campus Events Council (CEC). At this year’s Gordon Globes, we are taken to the setting of New York City, as Grace Sehulster ‘27 and Terrence Fevrier ‘27 go through a chronicle of Broadway adventures. It was a fun adventure, that made students laugh, cheer, and dance. So, it’s time we got to know a little more about their experiences beyond Globes!

When asked how they found out about the opportunity to be a host for Globes, Fevrier ‘27 said “I was in the car, and I saw the email [from CEC] to submit a film to Gordon Globes and I was scrolling and noticed that they were also looking for hosts. That’s when I immediately thought of Grace.” Sehulster ‘27 said “We kept joking about being hosts but Terrence thought we should actually do it.”

The two decided to pursue becoming hosts for Globes and their reasoning behind it is an inspiring reasoning that should be spoken to all. “You only get to have the college experience once. I was like, let me do something that I normally don’t do and go outside the box,” Sehulster said, “Now I have so many memories that I’m going to take with me.” Fevrier added to that by saying, “I thought it’d be funny and a good time. I would have regretted it if we didn’t audition, knowing that we would have so much fun–which we did!”

Being a host of any big event takes a lot of time and preparation, being a host for Globes was no exception. “We were in Jenks writing the script at least 2 weeks prior to Globes. We wrote our script together with the ideas we had,” said Fevrier continuing with, “And the week of Globes we had long rehearsals from 6pm to 1am. We had to learn our lines, learn the dances, and memorize without the script.” Sehulster added, “There was room for a little improv, but we had meetings and photoshoots, which were posted on Instagram, and we did the Instagram takeovers, which were so fun!”

Fevrier and Sehulster worked hard to put on an eventful night that they gave their favorite part on hosting. Fevrier said “My favorite thing about hosting was making people laugh and smile. And for our friends to finally see what we’ve been working on.” And Grace answered, “I enjoyed the process of making something beautiful and funny with people I’m close with and just making many beautiful memories that I’m going to cherish and showing a part of us to a lot of people.”

Fevrier and Sehulster brought such a wonderful performance that they give their nuggets of advice to those who wish to be hosts next year. Sehulster said, “Just put yourself out there and do something. If you hold back from doing something you’re going to miss out on an

experience. Fevrier’s advice was, “The second you’re afraid of being embarrassed, the second you hold back, that’s when it gets embarrassing. If you just own it, it will be fine. It’s not weird until you make it weird. Just go all out! People are going to laugh whatever it is. Don’t overthink!” The two first-years dedicated their time and energy to bring an outstanding performance that the student body will never forget but the one question that everyone seems to ask is “Will we see you for Gordon Goose?” Sehulster’s responses is “It’s up to the freshmen.” Fevrier added, “I would love to do it, but it depends on what they want.”
