Due to family concerns and financial reasons, Corey Laster, the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball team, will not be returning to Gordon for the 2016-17 season. He will be coaching at Colorado Christian University, in the state where he used to coach.

The two years Laster was head coach, the Scots slowly made progress from past years. They had ended the 2013-14 season 5-20 overall and 1-17 in conference play. The next two years would be a transitional stage for the Scots, ending the 2014-15 season 3-22 overall and 1-17 in the CCC.

Their hard work and focus paid off in the 2015-16 season as they ended with a record of 6-19 overall and 2-16 in the CCC.

Jon Tymann, the Director of Athletics, commented, “I am sad to see Coach Laster leave Gordon. In his two short years he made great initial steps toward rebuilding our Women’s Basketball program. However, I support his decision to put his family first and do what is best for them.”

The Scots are sad to see their coach leave as they transition yet again to find a new coach.

Team captain Jenna Olson ‘18 said, “The team is definitely shocked and sad. We all truly love Coach Laster and so appreciate everything he has done for the program but more importantly what he has done for every individual on the team.”
